Follow the Money

This past year, personal injury lawyers engaged in an effort to take control of the West Virginia Legislature.  Personal injury lawyers funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars into numerous targeted campaigns in a successful attempt to pick the next Speaker of the House, Delegate Rick Thompson.  The consequences could be dreadful for West Virginia.  The essential reforms that we have worked so hard to pass in the past several years could be in jeopardy!

After researching all publicly available campaign finance reports for the 2006 election year, WV Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse has compiled a “Dirty Dozen “ list of the twelve legislators taking the most money in large contributions this past year from personal injury lawyer interests.

WV CALA has also researched the top ten personal injury law firms giving the most money in large campaign contributions to legislative candidates throughout the state.  In many instances, these firms have given thousands of dollars in large contributions to legislative candidates living in districts outside their own.
